My Priorities for Our Schools

Clear educational goals and benchmarks
Establishing districtwide goals that include a rigorous, coherent curriculum and appropriate, leveled classes, so teachers can best meet the needs of an academically diverse student population.

A stronger middle school experience
We need strong academics, as well as clubs, athletics, and other extracurricular opportunities for our young adolescents.

Technology policies
Educators, families, and students are worried about how technology affects learning and school culture. We need policies to reduce distraction (including cell phone use during the school day) and promote healthy and responsible use of digital tools.

Critical thinking and civil discourse
Our policies and curricula must encourage fact-based analysis, respectful dialogue, and the civic skills students need to participate in a democratic society.

Good governance
Public trust is built through clear budgeting and reporting, responsible internal oversight, and long-range planning to sustain fiscal health.

Supporting and retaining educators
Teachers and staff must feel valued and have the conditions to do their best work.

Meeting all students’ needs
Every student in Brookline should have access to the programs and support they need to thrive.  PBS should direct resources toward programs that are proven to work, while keeping our limited dollars flowing to our classrooms.
