I grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, earned my BA from Emory University, and moved to Boston in 2003 to pursue a PhD in American History at Boston College. While completing my doctorate, I discovered my passion for teaching, and have never looked back. I’ve been teaching World History, U.S. History, and U.S. Government to middle and high school students for over a decade.

My husband, Greg, is also a history teacher, and we moved to Brookline in 2014 to raise our children in this exceptional school system. Our household also includes two beloved dogs: Pickles, our seven-year-old Sheltie, and Charlemagne — “Charlie” for short — a cockapoo puppy we welcomed in June (whose name makes our family’s love of history hard to miss).

Our 13-year-old daughter is an 8th grader at the Baker School, where she participates in musical theater and the Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA). She is also a goalie for Brookline Youth Hockey, with Greg as her coach! Our 10-year-old son is in 5th grade at the Driscoll School, where he is lucky to be part of the Language and Academic Homebase (LAHB) program. He loves soccer and has played with Brookline Recreation and the Brookline Soccer Club.

In addition to connecting to Brookline through my children, I have chosen to serve the community in my own, more formal way, as well. I was elected to Town Meeting in 2019 (and twice more since), and have loved showing up, listening, and collaborating with neighbors and colleagues for the good of the town. Working alongside people with different perspectives while advocating for our community has reinforced my belief that thoughtful, collaborative leadership can make a real difference in our children’s futures.
